Charitable recyclers collect donated goods and sell, recycle or repurpose them to support charitable and community outcomes.

Some donated items are damaged, unsuitable for reuse, or illegally dumped and cannot be recycled or repurposed. These materials must be disposed of to landfill, increasing operating costs and reducing funds available for charitable programs and services.

The Charitable Recycler Rebate Program helps offset these costs by providing a rebate on landfill levy expenses incurred by charitable recyclers. It is run in accordance with the Ministerial Direction of July 2022.
